Richard has worked in the Group Life market for more than 19 years, joining RAM’s board as Business Development Director in 2011 before becoming Managing Director in 2015. He takes a pragmatic, hands-on approach to the business and believes strongly in combining sound underwriting and commercial judgement with straightforward, personal service.

Richard holds the CII GR1 qualification and remains closely involved with RAM’s brokers and day-to-day operations. He is particularly passionate about making sure the business stays responsive, accessible and easy to deal with.

Alongside his role at RAM, Richard serves as a Governor for the Downland Village Schools Federation, which comprises three primary schools. It’s a role he values enormously as it gives him the opportunity to contribute his commercial and financial experience to the local community, while also learning from a very different governance environment.

Outside work, Richard enjoys taking his son to motorsport events, off-road cycling across the South Downs and getting out for a walk with the family Labrador, Harvey.

Sam has worked in the Group Life market for 29 years, beginning her career at Cornhill Insurance before joining RAM in 2002. Having started as a Group Life quotation clerk, she progressed through a range of administrative and operational roles before joining RAM’s Board as Administration Director in 2011. She became Company Secretary in 2013 and took on the roles of Operations Director and Deputy Managing Director in 2015.

Sam has extensive experience across company administration, governance, compliance and regulation, and plays a central role in ensuring RAM’s operational standards, policies and procedures continue to support the business as it grows. She holds a BA (Hons) in Business Administration together with FPC1 and GR1 qualifications.

Outside work, Sam enjoys keeping active through running, Pilates and fitness classes, as well as walking in the local countryside. She is also an avid reader, particularly enjoying contemporary fiction, thrillers and murder mysteries.

Rob has worked in the Group Life market since 2003, beginning his career with RAM shortly after graduating from university. He joined the business as an Account Administrator, gaining experience across scheme administration, claims and underwriting, and gained his CII GR1 Qualification before joining RAM’s board as Underwriting Director in 2011.

Today, Rob is responsible for underwriting across RAM’s corporate and Police & Fire Brigade schemes. He takes a sensible, pragmatic approach to underwriting and is always happy to discuss queries with brokers to help ensure schemes are set up correctly and run smoothly.

Outside work, Rob enjoys cycling, keeping fit and travelling.

Martin has worked in the Group Risk industry since 2003, holding a variety of roles - including managerial positions - with several insurers across administration, marketing and underwriting.

With broad experience across the industry, Martin understands the importance of great service and of putting the customer at the heart of everything he does.

Martin joined RAM as a Group Life Underwriter in August 2018. He holds the CII’s GR1 Group Risk qualification and has represented the company as a member of the GRiD Regulations Committee since July 2022.

Outside work, Martin can most often be found accompanying his two young sons to various sports clubs and activities. His claim to fame, however, is being a series champion on Channel 4’s Countdown in 2016, winning a total of 11 episodes.

Peter has worked in the insurance industry since 1969, with a career spanning Sun Life Assurance, Abbey Life, Assicurazioni Generali, Terra Nova, Cornhill and RAM. He began working with RAM’s Chairman and owner, David, in 1980 and has been part of RAM from its beginnings.

Over the course of his career, Peter has gained experience across many areas of insurance, with a particular focus on Group Risk and both group and individual medical underwriting.

Peter has always valued the flexibility of the Group Risk market, where experience and judgement can often create more innovative solutions than a purely individual approach. That philosophy has shaped much of his underwriting career and remains central to the way he approaches complex cases.

He is CII qualified and has previously been involved in setting questions for the CII’s GR1 examination.

Outside work, Peter enjoys watching football and cricket, together with listening to both classical and popular music.

Tracy has spent most of her working life in the insurance industry and joined RAM in 2003 as a Junior Administrator. Since then, she has progressed through the business and is now an Account Executive, bringing experience from both the broker and insurer sides of the market. She also holds the CII’s GR1 Group Risk qualification.

Tracy takes her role seriously and is passionate about providing the best possible service to clients. She places great importance on building strong working relationships and takes pride in being part of a close-knit team, many of whom have worked together for a number of years.

When away from the office, Tracy enjoys football, darts and spending time with her family.

Laura joined RAM in 2023 in an Administration Support role, bringing with her previous experience in customer care and administration within the umbrella payroll sector.

Since joining RAM, Laura has made the role her own and has become a firmly established member of the team, providing reliable support across the business and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our administration function.

Laura enjoys being part of an organisation that genuinely cares about its employees and clients, and whose values closely align with her own.
